EURAC-study visit to Vorarlberg, Austria
The Institute for Regional Development and Location Management of EURAC Bolzano travelled around the Austrian region Vorarlberg from the 28th to the 30th of July 2015. Their headquarters was based in Dornbirn, which is the buzzing economic center of Vorarlberg. The three-day programme was full of interesting meetings and visits that dealt with both urban and rural development.
However, against the backdrop of the InRuTou project, it was particularly one thing that seemed strikingly interesting. It was the visit to the Werkraum Bregenzerwald, a cooperation between local manufacturers founded in 1999, which is located in the middle of the rural Bregenzerwald.
The concept of the Werkraum Bregenzerwald serves as a platform for exchange among its members as well as an exhibition, it deals with the promotion of young talents and it helps promote the innovative craftsmanship of Vorarlberg far beyond its borders. Due to the inspiring architecture of the building as well as due to the high quality handworks that are exhibited the Werkraum Bregenzerwald has meanwhile also become a tourist attraction that many guests are visiting during their stay in the Bregenzerwald.
The discussion with the representative of the Werkraum Bregenzerwald has once again shown how important the cooperation between different economic sectors is for rural (tourism) development.
